Last concert before the summer break – Waldo’s Coffeehouse presents Ken Sizemore on May 13
Opening Act: Don Sabo
I will be a fun evening on May 13. The “Old Folkie” Ken Sizemore visits us from Panama City, FL. Ken has been performing folk and early pop music all over the country for decades. As a folk singer and guitarist, Ken plays the “classic” folk music of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s—songs by such artists as Peter, Paul, and Mary, The Kingston Trio, Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, John Denver, Gordon Lightfoot, Joni Mitchell, Tom Paxton, Simon and Garfunkel and others. Some of the pop artists that Ken includes in his repertoire are The Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly, Neil Diamond, Jim Croce, Harry Belafonte, James Taylor etc. For sure there will be a lot of possibilities to sing along on May 13.
In addition to playing concerts, coffee houses, outdoor festivals, and listening rooms, Ken has developed a number of programs that he presents to church groups, civic organizations, and clubs. His programs are developed around a topic or theme and feature lots of music as well as narration. A few of the titles of Ken’s programs include: “Sweet Harmony Of Justice–A Tribute To Peter, Paul, and Mary”, “Songs Of Protest And Change–the 60s Revisited”, “The Life and Music Of Woody Guthrie”, “For The Love Of The Earth”–songs celebrating the beauty of our mother planet, and laments at our unkind treatment of her, “Pete Seeger–How Can I Keep From Singing” and many more. A lot also around UU themes.
Pianist Don Sabo will treat us to a tribute of “Boogie & Blues” as opening act for Waldo’s Coffeehouse.
The concert at Emerson UUC, 4010 Canton Road, Marietta, GA 30066 starts at 7:00 PM. Doors open at 6:30 PM. Entrance donation is $10 – children under 18 are free.
