Are you in for an memorable evening filled with earthy, organic soundscapes that impart a mood of peace and tranquility? Then you should not miss Hiroya Tsukamoto’s performance on August 12. Ginger and Nick White have heard him play at Clemson University and they are totally excited that we bring such a wonderful, world travelled performer to Waldo’s Coffeehouse. Their excitement is shared by many. The Boston Herald says, “Hiroya Tsukamoto takes us to on impressionistic journey “. And Jazz Review.com agrees, “…chops, passion and warmth. Zealously recommended”! Hiroya Tsukamoto plays with fluid mastery, pristine tone, and great warmth. ” writes Celine Keating – Acoustic Guitar Magazine; “His music is earthy, organic and an amalgam of elements imported from diverse genres” – The Groove
Hiroya is a one-of-a-kind composer, guitarist and singer-songwriter from Kyoto, Japan. He began playing the five-string banjo when he was thirteen and took up the guitar shortly after. In 2000, Hiroya received a scholarship to Boston’s Berklee College of Music. Since then, he has been performing internationally including several appearances with his group at Blue Note in New York and has also appeared on major television shows internationally such as NHK (Japanese National Television) and EBS in Korea. Hiroya has released six albums; either as a solo artist or with his group.
