Waldo’s Coffeehouse is back with a new concept
ThunderGypsy open the season.
The 2019 season of Waldo’s Coffeehouse starts on March 9th. And it will be another exciting one with wonderful music and entertaining acts! However, based on feedback from its fans Waldo’s Coffeehouse has reduced the number of concerts this year to 5. Still on the second Saturday of a month, this year’s concert dates are: March 9th, April 13th, May 11th, August 10th and October 12th. The performers for this series are: ThunderGypsy, Steff Mahan, Pickxen, Hiroya Tsukamoto and the Downing Street Band (also known as Lashbrooks).
And something else is new: Fans have the opportunity to make their donation for the entire concert series upfront and save money! The requested donation for all 5 concerts of the 2019 series is just $50. This new option allows you to save 33% off the regularly requested donation of $15.00 at the door. Of course, as usual, kids can attend for free. Donations can be made at Emerson UUC on Sundays during Coffee Hour after the service or can be arranged online via firstname.lastname@example.org <mailto:email@example.com> and paid via PayPal.
will open up the season. In 2014 the stars aligned and 4 musicians with
similar tastes in music and attitude towards performance found each
other and formed ThunderGypsy. They have been captivating
audiences ever since! ThunderGypsy’s sound can best be described as soulful rocking Blues, covering an eclectic mix of music that spans the decades. The spirit of the Gypsy’s is evident in their music as they take you on a musical road trip from Atlanta’s Southern Soul to the rockin’ Blues in Macon, from the classic sound of the Memphis Blues along the streets of New Orleans’ French Quarter and even up to Chicago and St. Louis for their
rocking electric Blues. By taking many familiar songs and intensifying the arrangements, ThunderGypsy has been mesmerizing Atlanta audiences since its inception. Folks often say they’ve never seen a band having so much fun playing together as ThunderGypsy does! With Ken Williams on drums, Richard Price on guitar, Paul Allison on keyboard and organ and Heather Statham on
vocals, this quartet delivers a full sound guaranteed to delight your ears and keep you dancing and grooving all night long! They were the 2017 ATLANTA BLUES CHALLENGE WINNER and invited participant in the 2018 International Blues Challenge in Memphis.
